Women’s Rights & Advocacy

We fight against harmful practices such as early marriage, female genital mutilation, and gender-based violence. Through advocacy campaigns, legal aid, and awareness-raising, we defend women’s rights at community and policy levels.

Economic Empowerment & Entrepreneurship

We create opportunities for women through cooperatives, entrepreneurship training, and small business development. Women gain skills, financial independence, and the ability to provide for their families.

Education & Leadership Training

Who We Are

LUSA (Let Us Stay Alive) is a women-led grassroots nonprofit organization founded in 2013 in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo. We work to empower, advocate for, and protect the rights of indigenous and vulnerable women and girls, while promoting gender equality, health, education, and sustainable livelihoods.

A society where women and girls are safe and free from violence, abuse, poverty, stigma, HIV, and oppression.

LUSA is governed by a dedicated Board of Directors, managed by a professional Leadership Team, and supported by more than 200 active members and volunteers across North Kivu, South Kivu, Ituri, Tanganyika, and Lubumbashi.
